A Photo Diary: Paris

08:00

Paris is a city that I have dreamed of visiting for a very long time and always feel a slight hint of jealousy and awe when someone tells me about their amazing trip to the beautiful city of Paris. I was so lucky that I was able to head off on the Eurostar and head off to the wonderful city and see it's beauty for myself.

Our hotel was basic, to say the least, with the smallest elevator known to man and a few sheets as covers which meant a few nights curled in a tiny ball trying to keep warm. However, all was (almost) forgiven as the view was pretty incredible. We were on the top floor with an open view over Paris with beautiful Parisian buildings surrounding us all around with the top of the Sacre Coeur peaking out from behind some rooftops. For me, I really didn't mind that the hotel wasn't exactly luxurious as, as soon as I am asleep I am out for it so I wasn't affected too much and it made the whole stay feel quite authentic, however, I think my mum would have liked a slightly nicer place to stay!

I think that my mum was a bit worried that I would be waking her up at the crack of dawn with every second of every day all planned out, however, whilst this would have been fab, even I know that I there is no way I would have enough energy to carry it all out.  We got ready for the day and headed out to find a nice little cafe to have some brunch. I had a nice chocolate and banana crepe (very french I know) and watched the people of Paris walk by.

After that, we headed down to metro and after having a fun time trying to figure out which train to get, we got some tickets and went to see the Galeries Lafayette, which if you have never heard of is a very luxurious department store in an amazing building. On the way there we saw some amazing french buildings like the one below and happened to walk past a Sephora which of course meant money had to be spent! When we were in the store, the staff turned the music up really loud and started dancing at the entrance and whooing when anyone walked in which was really funny and everyone looked like they were haveing a really fun time.

The inside of the Galeries Lafayette is amazing. It is filled with so many gorgeous brands of clothing, jewellery and my favourite, makeup. The makeup is also in the main dome centre which is an amazing sight. Even if you are not inter makeup, I would suggest going just to see this as it is so beautiful and an amazing piece of architecture and when you go right to the top you can see that the walls are all painted beautifully.

And then, of course, you can not go to Paris without travelling to the Effiel Tower and see Paris from the top of the top. It is an amazing sight, both seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time and seeing Paris from the tower. When we turned the corner coming out of the station and saw the Eiffel tower there, it was such an impressive sight, I think because everything surrounding it is so flat, it really stands out with a very strong impression. And Paris is a city even when you are 320 meters high. I kept thinking that it was such a white and clean looking but it also had so much greenery, so unlike any other city.

On the second day, we decided that we would buy tickets for the hop on and hop off open top bus tour and I have to say I think that this was one of my favourite part of the trip! We got to see so much of the city and see so much amazing architecture, all from sitting down! The fact that you can hop on and off also means that we could get off and walk around any of the touristy places (like the Louvre and the Jardin du Luxembourg which was absolutely beautiful). I would definitely recommend this to anyone who goes to Paris, or any other big city as I will definitely be doing this when I get a chance to visit any other amazing cities.

On, the Monday morning, we packed up ready to go and headed out for some lunch at a local restaurant that had the most delicious garlic potatoes and salads. However, before that, we headed to the bottom of the Sacre Coeur to have a bit of people watching which was the perfect way to end the weekend!

And there is a little summary of my weekend in Paris! It was such an amazing weekend and one I will always remember for the rest of my life and I can't wait for another chance to revisit. Where would you guys like to travel the most?
