So School Begins Again...

17:53

So school is about to begin again. If you have just done your GCSE's  like me and are about to start either A Levels or college, you will have also had a super long holiday that was desperately needed! I'm not sure if I am quite ready to go back to school yet. However, I thought I would do a back to school posts/what I think I need to prepare for sixth form and how I am (hopefully) going to plan and organise the next few years. Hopefully, this will give me a little bit of enthusiasm for going back to school! Everyone says that sixth form is very different: social groups change; the lessons get harder and the way they're taught changes too, but fro some reason I just can't see how it is all going to work out. Maybe I'll do another post in a few months or even at the end of sixth form to see how it does change.

So in preparation for the big day, the one thing I would say is to start the year as you wish to carry on. Make sure you have everything packed and ready to go the night before with your clothes looked out, make up planned and anything else you need for a quick and stress-free evening. I got my new school bag yesterday nad I love it! I got home and immediately started packing it (does anyone else have that need to immediately start using something as soon as you get it?) but I actually realised I had no idea what I needed to take. I don't have any textbooks or revision guides and I don't even have my time table yet so don't know what lessons I have so can't even prepare for that.

What I have packed is this Campus Project Book which has four sections (one for each subject) and my plan is to write down the notes for each subject in there in the lessons so I don't miss anything and then when I get home rewrite them up in nice colour to put them into files. I also like this as something that really annoys me is when we start a topic, move on to the next before finishing the first one 6 months later so all the information is scattered throughout the book. This way I can move the information so it is all in one place!

Another thing I am going to really try to do this year is just myself. I sound really weird when I write it but for the last few years, I have been very self-conscious about what others think of me which is really stupid if you think about it. What I've learnt is that, no matter how much you try to change yourself and please as many people as possible, there are going to be people that judge you and, to be honest, just don't like you and you know what, that's OK. We don't all have to be perfect and the only way you will truly be happy is by being who you are and who you want to be. It is also the only way you are going to find people who are like you and like you for who you are.

So that turned a little bit serious but I hope that this has given you some ideas on how to look at school and given a little bit of help in prepping for the start of the school year! Do you have any recommendations on what to take on your first day?

  1. I like the idea of putting all your notes in files, it is a lot better than having them in a thousand notebooks! I am aiming to start the year as I mean to go on and be organised xx

  2. I loved this post! Im going into my second year of college and I thought I might as well give you a few tips about college. Noone cares about if you wear the same outfit 2 days in a row, it really doesnt matter. Dont worry about what everyone else thinks, college is the time where you definitely see different personalities in people. You will probably need about 3 notebooks throughout the year because there is a lot to write. But most of all have fun and enjoy the freedom compared to school, I definitely prefer college to school :)
