L'oreal Nude Magique Cushion

17:30

I bought this foundation on a bit of an impulse buy as I was swept up in Boots's 3 for 2 offer on L'oreal products. I had originally gone in to get their Infallible 24h Matte foundation as it was highly recommended by a friend. I then saw that there was a matching primer and so I tested it on my hand and it made it so smooth I had to have it! This is when I noticed that they have their offer so I was debating what product to get when I spotted the Nude Magique Cushion and picked it up immediately. I first saw this foundation on a Jaclyn Hill video and was so intrigued I went to order it straight away but it wasn't yet out in the UK and for some reason, I never thought to pick it up again after that. So whilst this was an impulse buy, I had been pining over it for quite a while.

Now this was not at all what I expected, maybe because I hadn't really done any research, the  whole idea of foundation in a cushion being enough for me to want to try it, but for some reason, I thought it was like a little cushion that you pressed down and liquid foundation squirted out. This foundation actually really confuses ,now that I am really thinking about it, on what it really is. I can't figure out if it is the foundation that is in a foam consistency or it is actually a sponge soaked in the foundation? I believe that it is the latter but if anyone can say for sure please comment below! It is definitely a unique way for packaging foundation I have ever seen for sure! The rest of the packaging is very nice with a metallic pink lid and a baby pink base with a nice mirror on the inside of the lid which can definitely be used (I hate when the mirror is either too small or distorted so is impossible to use) which is great as it can then double up as a compact. Size wise, I would say it is pretty good for its shape however if I was maybe going on holiday where space was tight, I would probably opt for a tube foundation just as they will easier to fit and will take up less space.

I got the shade Vanilla which is the second lightest shade but is possible to dark and orange for my skin tone which is slightly annoying, however, I have a feeling that the lightest shade will be too light and may make me resemble a ghost. With a lot of blending I can probably get away with it and in the summer it's not too bad but I doubt I will be able to use it in the colder months of the year. It is advertised saying that you can customise your coverage but I would definitely say that it was a light coverage as I had to dip my brush into the compact quite a lot and even then I feel like it hasn't hidden the redness on my cheeks or left from spots. It did have quite a dewy finish but I did matte this down with a powder as I find a dewy foundation to be a bit too much during hotter days like today. This foundation does come with a little sponge applicator but I gave up trying to use it very quickly as it picked up very little of the foundation and soaked more up than applied it to my face, so I switched to my Real Techniques Expert Face brush and this seemed to do a pretty good job. I wouldn't recommend a flat foundation brush due to the packaging and you really need something that you can press into the cushion.

Overall, I feel that the foundation is relatively good and I will be using it again, experimenting with different ways to apply it and how to get a more even and fuller coverage that it advertise, however, I don't think it is my favourite foundation and would probably try out some others before I repurchase this one again.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?
