Top 5 Summer Staples

17:44

Hello! Today I have a very exciting post for me as it is my first collab! I am doing this post joint with the lovely Charlotte from Vie Avec Charlotte, make sure you check out her lovely post for some more summer staples and her amazing blog that has so many fab posts! We met through the Teenage Blogger Program which is so amazing for getting to know other people with similar interests and similar ages which was something I was struggling to do. Make sure to join our twitter chats which are starting this July!

So onto the staples. When packing for a holiday, I normally leave it to the last possible minutes before I get all my things together and when I get there, I realise I have way to many clothes or makeup that aren't necessary and won't use, and I have at least forgot one thing that is really quite vital for my holiday! The first item I have are my flip flops which I have had for around two or three years now and I still always wear them! On really hot days I find that all I want are really easy shows that I can slip on and wont irritate my feet, especially as they can get a bit swollen in the heat. For me, I love sandals but I am always a bit hesitant to buy some as they are relatively expensive for me and will probably be out of style by the time next summer comes around however flip flops will always be in style! It also doesn't hurt that I have to perfect nail polish that matched the straps perfectly!

Another thing I have to have is a good pair of shorts. I've never really been skirts kind of girl but a pair of shorts and a nice floaty top is the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. These shorts where from Holister and they were slightly (and by that I mean a lot) out of my normal price range for a pair of shorts however They are the best fitting shorts I have ever worn! They fit perfectly around my waist which is something I always struggle to find with high waisted jeans, and not matter how many times I wash them, they still fit just as good as before!

In summer, especially when you are on holiday maybe in and out of the pool, wearing make up is never really a priority as it is likely to be either washed off or sweated off (nice image I know). However I do still attempted to wear it or always take my make up bag with me and I normally take with me a nice, light foundation that has a bit of SPF in it as it is important to protect your skin! I know a lot of people (my self included) think that you can't be burnt when wearing foundation and it's covering your skin however the harmful rays can still get though and cause some pretty horrible burns. This one from No7 is definitely my all time go to and one a normally use when I am feeling a little but more confident with my skin as it is a light coverage but still sits lovely on the skin.

The forth item I have chosen is a hair oil. In the summer your hair tends to get naturally a bit lighter due to the suns bleaching effects but this also means that your hair is getting even more damaged and frizzy. My hair is really damaged at the moment as I haven't had it cut in so long however I don't want to make it worse! I like to use my oil just to give some moisture back into the ends. The oil I'm using at the moment is the Matrix Exquisite Oil which isn't specifically for repair however it is a really nice oil that doesn't make my hair look greasy and keeps the frizz away.

The final Item I have for you is my kindle. this is something I really don't think I could live without on my holiday! I think the kindle I have now is maybe my 4th one, my last broke quite recently which I was so annoyed at however I managed to get by due to the fact I wouldn't be able to use it due to school work, however I got this one for my birthday a few weeks ago and I barley out it down and always have it on me! I love ready and (like the true geek I am) have highlighted all the books I want to read on the super long reading list we where given to have a look at over the holidays.

So I hope you guys have loved this post and collab (make sure you check our Charlotte's post) and let me know if you would like to see some more collabs! What are your summer staples?

  3. Shorts are my staple for summer too, you're lucky you found a good pair that don't shrink! As for flip flops (we call them thongs), I wish I found them comfortable to walk in but I just can't really keep them on my feet, otherwise they would be perfect for travel.
